It’s gift giving season & these two sweet words spoken tenderly, at times with glistening eyes of unfallen tears, are reflections of hearts that have encountered a deep meaning.
What is it about being remembered that moves us so?
I think it’s the sensation of not only feeling seen, but also feeling so intimately known.
And I’m here to tell you, God does this for us best. God remembers.
All of it, Beloved.
He sees. He knows. He cherishes.
All of it has made you who you are today, and He remembers.
The day is coming when He will scoop us up like a loving father, swinging us around in His safe & protective arms. We will be with Him. We will be home. All will be Well.
But until then He is faithful.
He sees us.
He is with us.
And He remembers.
Can you see Jesus at the last supper, so intoxicatingly focused upon His cherished friends, that He sincerely vows, ““Mark my words—I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new with you in my Father’s Kingdom.”” Matthew‬ â€26‬:â€29‬
Parting promises from a Beloved… what? Confidant? Companion? Friend?
What word can describe the beauty of their shared intimacy? What word can describe yours as His loving gaze falls upon you at that table; as He makes His promise of love?
Is this a one-sided relationship? Is His love unrequited? Or are you as moved as I am, with tight chest & moistened cheeks.
Do you whisper your reply, “I am remembering you, too, Lord. Though we have never physically met, you have changed my life in immeasurable ways & I can’t forget it.
I won’t forget it.
Thank you for remembering me first & becoming my most cherished Gift.
I will remember You & my promise to You in return is, ‘I am Yours.’ Amen.”
Reflection Questions:
1 - How would you describe your shared intimacy with God?
2 - How might you demonstrate today that you are remembering Him?
